I've revisted the tracking / timing system and with a bit more work (read re-write) I'm finally 100% happy with it.

Stable and bug free.

Turns out I had a bug in my network serialization code. After a few tweaks response is much better. No more lag.

Smoke has been "fixed" - had another think about it and compared with real life scenarios - seems smoke is a bit lighter on average.

Changes have enhanced the effect for the better.

Been thinking about it more and more. I think the problem relates to my update interval every second (to stop flooding etc.) coupled with the fact that ordered messages are not really critical in a vehicle simulation.

Going to impliment some changes some time this week and report back.

Thanks! I think smoke quantity considering it's a full muscle car burnout is perfect. The colour, I am hearing you guys. Perhaps scale the colour around 10-15% lighter across the board. I'll look into this sometime tomorrow if there is some spare time to work on the project.

Hmmm I dunno, maybe a little lighter. Although as you said, it could just be this particular scene.

I like the amount of smoke. Not too much and not too little. Great.

I am thinking along the same lines. Some compounds and surfaces do allow for the smoke to burn lighter but then again I have seen 'darker' burnouts too. Leave it with me to play around with this a bit more.
